Meet Mike Church, Community Manager at Woodside
We caught up with Mike Church to find out how he helps occupiers at Woodside Industrial Estate in his role as Community Manager.
How long have you worked at Woodside Industrial Estate?
I started working at Woodside at the beginning of May 2023, and began the role of Community Manager in May 2024.
What does your job entail?
The role has many facets to it as no two days are the same! I manage the hub on a very busy industrial centre which can involve the tenants as well as the general public, the police, outside agencies, contractors, surveyors, Councils. I am there to offer advice as well as find solutions through the contacts and resources I have available to me. I meet contractors both at the office as part of a process as well as onsite and also the tenants to discuss a range of topics or information they wish to share or discuss. I also identify anything such as defects and pass that information on to the relevant teams to rectify.
What value does your job bring to occupier businesses and their staff?
In terms of value to businesses I believe that the role provides them with a primary contact and a source of information as well as a friendly face that they can identify with if ever needed.
What makes Woodside Industrial Estate special?
There is a wide and diverse range of businesses here on Woodside so there is a blend of occupiers , some of whom are very long stay which creates a stability. There will always be movement and redevelopment but that’s the nature of business in general. The appearance of Woodside itself is one that looks well kept and maintained and welcoming. There are bus links here, the bypass ensures that goods can be easily moved on to the main roads for transportation.
What do you like the best about your job?
I do like the interaction I have with the tenants and also resolving any issues that they have or at least pointing them in the right direction. Some of the contacts share a lot about their businesses challenges – to me that means that I have won their trust which is a real positive. Also believing that you have done the best you can do to help resolve an issue.
What do you wish all occupiers knew about the estate?
I’d hope that all tenants access and use the Vizta neighbourhood portal. This is a free service from the owner, Legal & General, for the occupiers to log into when they can, to find out about what’s happening on and around the estate, as well as access important documents relating to their leases.
How and when can occupiers contact you?
I have all my details and contacts out with all the tenants including a business card, email, company phone and an internal office phone. Or, get in touch via the Vizta portal!
